OHSAA’s Parking Wars

Frankly, this entry should be about how Maplewood’s boys and girls finished fourth at state. How McDonald boys and girls had good showings.

It shouldn’t be about parking.

However, it is.

Thank you Ohio High School Athletic Association!

One reporter came back in to the press area and said, “I might as well write here. I can’t go anywhere.”

It didn’t hit me until I reached my car and saw the endless line of cars, vans, buses and other modes of transportation.

There was a record crowd of 14,000 at Scioto Downs, but no traffic cop in sight. None. There was a wreck, but no sight of an officer.

Nice oversight OHSAA! I’m sure those stuck in line about 5 hours loved the fact they were sitting in the Scioto Downs parking lot until the early evening hours. Really? Five hours?

Nice 25th anniversary celebration of the state meet at Scioto Downs. If not for the competent Ohio State Highway patrol to tend to the accident on state Route 23 in front of Scioto Downs and quell the understandably angry drivers, people may of been staying until the 26th anniversary.

Thank you OHSAA, it’s always been a pleasure. I’m sure those stuck in the unnecessary traffic jam express their most heartfilled thanks as well.
