Veteran's Day 5K Race

Due to current covid related constraints, the 2021 event will be a 5K only.

The Half Marathon/5K Events will return for Veteran's Day 2022 on Sunday, November 13, 2022

A race to run or walk to honor and to benefit America's Veterans. The race is contested through the gently rolling wooded hills of our country's historic World War II munitions plant, and today's premier regional joint military training center.

·   Course & Location:  The race starts and finishes at Windham High School which is adjacent to the Camp James A. Garfield (formerly the Ravenna Arsenal) in Windham, OH.  The course is entirely within Camp James A. Garfield after leaving the school property. The 5K course passes military vehicles and training sites in the facility.

·   Registration:  The entry fee for the 5K will be $25 in advance and $30 on race day. Online registration is available at www.gopherarun.com.

·   Amenities:  5K runners receive a commemorative Veteran's Day Race shirt. Snacks and awards will be presented to race participants in the Windham High School Cafeteria following the race.

·    Awards:   Cash awards in the 5K will be presented to the top 3 men and women overall (1^st - $100, 2^nd - $50, 3^rd - $25). Age group awards presented to the top 3 finishers in each of these age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

·    Beneficiaries: Race proceeds will benefit Windham Schools Food Pantry.

·    Coordinated: The Windham/ Camp James A. Garfield Race is being coordinated by the combined efforts of the soldiers of Camp James A. Garfield, Windham High School's Student Council and Gopher Running. Further information as well as an online registration link can be found at www.gopherarun.com.

In Consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I waive, for myself, my heirs, and assigns, any claims for any injury including death and all damages which I might have against Camp James A. Garfield, Windham Schools, Gopher Running, the race directors and all sponsors as the result of any and all injuries which might be received during this contest.  This includes injuries due to weather, heat and road conditions.
